Pulau Tioman (Malaysia – state of Pahang)

Hey guys. I’m here to introduce the island of Pulau Tioman.

It is the most biggest & impressive island off the east of Malaysia. Tioman island is shaped like a pear, with many villages, as well as sea activities & accommodation. Snorkeling is the favorite sea activities among most visitors. There are diving courses, & they would bring u to the actual diving location.

Snorkeling — Upon rental of snorkeling equipment, you’ll be provided with 3 things, i.e: Snorkeling mask, “Life jacket’ (similar to the ones used in Kayaking. The actual name is PPE) & 1 pair of flippers (flippers are plastic slippers shaped like frogs’ feet — used for better gliding underwater). For those non swimmers, you will not miss the fun. The PPE that you put on will ensure that you are always afloat in the sea. You should be able to see corals (various types), sea creatures, fishes, prawns, etc once you are out at sea. Even close to shoreline (during low tide), u will see a variety of corals & sea creature. *During 1 of my visit to Tioman (& staying in Salang village) in yr 2006, my friends & I walked out to the sea (@ low tide) & saw some of these things:-

Brain coral; Dead man’s finger; Flower coral; Sea urchin; Starfish

Food is not a problem at Tioman. There are several cafes, restaurant, eateries at Tioman. They served seafood, barbecue food, meat (all at a low cost). There are varieties of kampong retail shops at every village, that sells swimming apparels, clothings, souvenirs, etc.

Curry prawns; Gong Bao Ji Ding; Sardine prata

*There’s a Chinese restaurant @ the other corner of Salang village that serves delicious local & seafood. YuM, yUm~

So much of  P. Tioman. These are my vivid experiences in Tioman. For those who have yet to visit P. Tioman, you may like to visit there for a beach resort holiday. *I might go to Tioman again , as it’s (beach resort) the nearest to Singapore. (“,). Adios diary~
